Terms of Service

By accessing or using Kwazoo ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. We may update these terms from time to time — continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Kwazoo is a browser-based party games platform. Players create rooms, share join codes, and play mini-games together in real-time. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind.

• No account or sign-up is required to play the free tier ("Simple Kwazoo")
• Optional accounts allow you to save stats and access Premium features
• Game rooms are temporary and exist only in server memory
• The Service includes a free ad-supported tier and an optional paid Premium tier
• We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time

You agree to use Kwazoo in a way that is respectful to other players and does not interfere with the Service. When playing, you must:

• Treat other players with respect and courtesy
• Not use offensive, discriminatory, or harassing language in player names, custom content, or in-game communication
• Not attempt to disrupt games for other players (e.g., intentional griefing, spamming)
• Not impersonate other people or entities
• Not use the Service for any illegal purpose

The following activities are strictly prohibited:

• Attempting to exploit, hack, or reverse-engineer the Service
• Using automated scripts, bots, or tools to interact with the Service
• Attempting to access rooms, data, or systems you are not authorized to access
• Deliberately overwhelming the Service with excessive requests (denial of service)
• Scraping, copying, or redistributing the Service's content or code without permission
• Creating custom content packs containing illegal, hateful, or sexually explicit material

Violation of these rules may result in your connection being terminated and your IP being temporarily blocked from the Service.

Some games allow you to submit content such as drawings, text responses, custom game packs, and votes. By submitting content, you:

• Retain ownership of any original content you create
• Grant Kwazoo a temporary license to display and transmit your content to other players in the same game room
• Acknowledge that in-game content is ephemeral and not stored permanently (rooms are cleared from memory after 3 hours)
• Accept responsibility for ensuring your content does not violate these terms or applicable laws

Custom game packs are stored locally in your browser's localStorage. They are not uploaded to our servers unless actively used in a game session, at which point the content is held in server memory for the duration of that session only.

To maintain a fair and enjoyable experience for all players:

• All game logic runs on the server — the server is the single source of truth for game state
• WebSocket connections are rate-limited (30 events per second) to prevent abuse
• Players who repeatedly violate rate limits may be automatically disconnected
• Room hosts can kick disruptive players at their discretion
• We reserve the right to implement additional security measures as needed

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

• Kwazoo is provided "as is" without any warranties, express or implied
• We are not liable for any interruptions, data loss, or service unavailability
• We are not responsible for the conduct of other players in your game room
• Game rooms are ephemeral — if the server restarts, all active rooms are lost
• We make no guarantees about uptime, performance, or availability of specific features

In no event shall Kwazoo or its creators be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.

All original content, design, and code that make up the Kwazoo Service are owned by Kwazoo and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works based on the Service without our prior written permission.

Game content (trivia questions, drawing prompts, word lists, etc.) included in the built-in content packs is created by Kwazoo or sourced from the public domain.

Kwazoo offers an optional paid subscription ("Premium Kwazoo") with additional features. By purchasing a Premium subscription, you agree to the following:

• Premium Kwazoo is available as a monthly ($2.99/month) or annual ($24.99/year) subscription
• Payment is processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your payment card details
• Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled
• You can cancel your subscription at any time from your Settings page or via the Stripe Customer Portal
• Upon cancellation, Premium benefits remain active until the end of the current billing period
• Premium features include: ad-free experience, exclusive cosmetics, creator tools, profile badge, and priority matchmaking
• Premium cosmetics are locked (but saved) if your subscription expires — they unlock again if you re-subscribe
• We reserve the right to change Premium pricing with 30 days notice to existing subscribers

We offer a 7-day no-questions-asked refund from the date of each billing charge. This applies to both monthly and annual subscriptions.

• Request a refund within 7 calendar days of any charge by emailing croxa@hotmail.no
• Refunds are processed within 2 business days and appear on your statement within 5-10 business days
• Upon refund, your Premium subscription is cancelled immediately and you revert to the free tier
• After 7 days, the charge is considered final and is not eligible for a refund

The free tier of Kwazoo is supported by advertisements:

• Banner advertisements may appear in the lobby and results screens
• Short interstitial advertisements (up to 15 seconds) may appear between games
• Advertising cookies require your explicit consent and can be revoked at any time
• Premium subscribers do not see any advertisements
• We use Google AdSense as our advertising partner

You may delete your account at any time from your Settings page. Account deletion is permanent and irreversible.

• You can delete your account from Settings > Delete My Account
• All personal data, game history, and cosmetic inventory will be permanently deleted
• Active Premium subscriptions will be cancelled with Stripe
• Anonymized payment records are retained for 7 years per financial regulations
• We may terminate accounts that violate these Terms without notice

We may revise these Terms of Service at any time. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after any changes indicates your acceptance of the new terms. For Premium subscribers, material changes to subscription terms will be communicated via email at least 30 days before they take effect.
